Peru highest level military official to attend U.S. Southern Command ceremony

Lima, Jan. 10. The Head of Joint Command of the Armed Forces of Peru (CCFFAA) Admiral Jorge Moscoso Flores will travel to the city of Miami (FL) United States to take part in the U.S. Southern Command change of authority ceremony, Peru’s Defense Ministry reported.

According to the Supreme Resolution N°004-2016-DE published in El Peruano official gazette, Moscoso Flores’ trip was authorized for January 13th-15th.

In the event, Southern Command’s new Chief Admiral Kurt W. Tidd will replace General John Kelly.

It must be noted the aforementioned U.S. Command oversees military activities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The said resolution was signed by Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso, Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano and Peru’s Defense Minister Jakke Valakivi.
